New year, new goals! January is the perfect time to evaluate your business and determine what you could be doing better or differently. Setting real estate resolutions for yourself can help clarify your objectives as well as lay the groundwork for the next 12 months of selling. So, as you’re jotting down your plans to read more or eat healthier this year, save some space on your list for these six business-boosting resolutions!
1. Utilize video marketing
It’s no secret that video marketing is becoming increasingly popular and, as a visual-heavy industry, the real estate business in particular can stand to benefit from this kind of asset. If you already engage in video marketing, determine ways you can improve your strategy. If you’re a video newbie, consider this your sign to incorporate videos into your marketing plan for the year. Ideas might include virtual home tours, client testimonials, educational clips and more.
2. Find your niche
By focusing on a specific segment of buyers, niche marketing can help you streamline your efforts, obtain more qualified leads and better serve the clients you work with. In the new year, consider making finding a niche one of your real estate resolutions. These homebuyer segments may include first-time buyers, veterans or active military members, growing families, etc. If you’ve already determined the type of buyers you’d like to serve, make a plan for how you can more effectively market to them.
3. Be more active on social media
It can be easy to let your social media accounts fall by the wayside when you’re in a busy selling season. However, we’re here to remind you that social media platforms can be powerful tools both for attracting new leads and for maintaining connections with current clients. Highlighting available properties, showcasing your knowledge and expertise, and even sprinkling in a bit of your personality are all great ways to gain more social followers—and future clients.
4. Reevaluate your technology
From your email service provider down to your bookkeeping software, the technology you use helps keep you organized and efficient. If you’ve been using the same programs for a while, the new year may be a prime time to take stock of what’s working well and what’s no longer serving your business. Research new software and tools that could fill in those technology gaps and replace anything that is outdated.
5. Develop your skills
Even the most seasoned agent can benefit from continuing their education. There’s a plethora of resources available for anyone wanting to grow their real estate career, including online or in-person courses, webinars, blogs and newsletters. The National Association of REALTORS®, for instance, offers trainings, professional development courses, certifications and more on its website. Plus, educational events can be another way to meet and network with fellow agents.
6. Stay in the know
There’s a lot to keep up with in the real estate world—market trends, interest rates, new communities and listings, networking events, and the list goes on. It’s important to stay informed, but the process of doing so can feel overwhelming.
