One of the most versatile interior design trends our team has seen is the creative use of pendant groupings in spacious areas. Pendants not only provide functional illumination—by adding lighting directly where its needed—but also increase the aesthetics of a room by enhancing complementary finishes and textures featured in other home accents.
Here are some of our favorite applications—and ideas to try—featuring pendant designs.
For the kitchen island
Hang pendants in groupings of two or more over a kitchen island. The design team at Progress Lighting typically recommends placing pendants 18″ in from the edge of the island.
Over a dining room table
Incorporate multiple pendants over a dining table. This is a wonderful way to add extra light when the ceiling height doesn’t allow for a large chandelier.
In the bedroom
Pendant lights add romance and make a statement in a master suite or guest bedroom. Pendants can be displayed on either side of the bed in lieu of table lamps. Additionally, a single large pendant light positioned directly over the bed creates a stunning focal point.
In an entryway or foyer
Try adding a grouping of pendants in a spacious area, such as the foyer or entryway, in lieu of an oversized chandelier. Pendants can be displayed in varying heights to add visual interest in an area that makes a first impression on guests and visitors.
In a living room area
Individuals no longer have to feel constrained to choose from lighting fixtures in the same collection. Rather, we at Progress Lighting encourage you to mix and match complementary fixtures, which also includes pendants.
Bathroom
Pendants can be displayed on either side of a mirror in the bath and vanity area. Combined with recessed lighting or other general overhead illumination, pendants can add both form and function to the bathroom.
